Fashion as Art: Fast Track
A series of editorial illustrations commissioned by Nargis Magazine Azerbaijan for the "Fashion as Art" feature in Issue 128 — a spread exploring the intersection of racing culture, athletic movement, and contemporary fashion through illustration rather than photography.
The work was developed to capture not the sport itself but the feeling it generates: speed as a physical sensation, colour as adrenaline, pattern as visual noise. Figures dissolve into their surroundings — a cyclist becomes a blur of stripes and yellow lines, a horse and rider merge with checkerboard and fluid abstract forms, bodies in motion leave colour behind them like exhaust. The palette is deliberately high-register: deep orange grounds, cobalt blue, acid yellow, leopard print, and geometric black-and-white patterns collide without competing.
The compositions fill the page to the edge, removing any frame or distance between the image and the reader. There is no negative space — the illustrations demand full attention, which is precisely the editorial intention of a "Fashion as Art" feature that treats illustration as the primary visual statement rather than a supplement to photography.
Published across a double-page spread, the series sits among Nargis Magazine's ongoing commitment to presenting contemporary illustration as a legitimate and distinct visual language within fashion editorial.
